Lohri Festival celebrated one day before Sankranti which comes mostly on 13th January. Lohri festival denotes the end of the winter season. We can say Lohri has relation with MakarSankranti as on which Sun enters into the Makar Rashi.
Usually on 13th January sun enters onto the Makar rashi from Dhanu rashi. This day is celebrated as Lohri in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu. To convey our thanks to the sun and fire Lohri Festival is celebrated.
In the same way of Holi, people used to lightened fire in the night which is called as Lohri and sits around it and sings Lohri song.
